In these times of economic crisis coupled with the fact that it is January, it is very easy to be infected with a sense of gloom. So how do you cheer yourself up in times like these? Usually, all I do is try and achieve more, working my tail off but even that doesn't seem to be working very well at the moment. Any tips?

Buy (and read) a good book :)

1) Physical activity. Ride your bike (if you haven't got one, get one). Go to the gym.
2) Chocolate. Not great if you want to lose weight, but it works; for a healthier alternative, try fruits (such as Golden Delicious apples).
3) Hot baths. Nice and relaxing.

I usually just work really hard. Other than that, if it doesn't work, then I focus on those I care about and help them as much as I can. Good luck :) Take care.

For me it depends what is affecting me. But always a good conversation with friends makes me normally feel much better afterwards since sometimes it can help me tackle what is making me gloomy.

Do some stuff you've been meaning to do for a while but haven't got round to doing.

For example, me learning to drive in the depths of winter :) Or sorting out your filing cabinet with music blaring from the speakers. Or watching that DVD you got two years ago that you've not managed to find time to watch.

Hmm, good idea. Although at the moment, that might be nigh on impossible ;)

Hmm, indeed. Perhaps I should invest ;)

I have loads of books I keep meaning to read, it's just finding the time to do it. I'm getting a lot done but crap seems to be filling any free time I have. May have to take your idea on board though.

I go to the gym three/four times a week and it does work but I am often so tired before I get there, I question whether it is a good idea. In the end it normally is though as I feel reinvigorated after a good gym session. My home town is not great to be riding around on a bike hun lols.

I don't have a bath but the chocolate one seems a good suggestion. I kept meaning to watch a DVD and have a pizza on Monday evening but my friend dragged me to the pub instead. Was a good night but not the relaxing time I really needed.

That's difficult where I live as I don't have too many that are local. Also, a lot of my friendships seem to revolve around drinking and alcohol tends to make things worse really.

Could do that - expensive though.

That's what I try to do as it often blots out the negative feelings I often get but at the moment I am constantly tired and fear I am working myself into the ground. That's not good either, I need to find a balance.

Fancy doing it this weekend? It's highly likely I will have all of Monday off.

I tend to find it depends on the friends but then I guess that's normal. Plus I always have this fear that I am dumping my problems on them and that makes me feel guilty :(

There is so much stuff lols - I compiled a list at the back end of last year and of the 14 things I really want to do, I am currently realising 5 of them. I guess it's better than nothing I suppose. Wish I wasn't such a perfectionist though...

Mmm. Yeah, going to the gym is good even when you're tired - if you're not already physically exhausted, it will likely make you feel better.

Hmm, not having a tub sucks, though...
