How have fur's fursonas evolved over time?

I started off as a fox, then flirted with the bunny side for a bit. I then became a squirrel before finally settling on a wolf. I then became a more wolf/husky hybrid, which is where I have stayed ever since. Does this make me a fursona slut?

I initially wanted to be a fox but one of my friends was called Fox and he had bad personal hygiene so I rethought my character.

Also the pink was something else that evolved in time although I admit ever since I was 14 I wanted to have pink hair (I just didn't have the guts to dye it plus school and jobs kinda put paid to all that). In the early days of me joining the Fandom I had no idea what my fursona was going to be like - it was only at the Sheffield meet last June that I got the inspiration to go pink. It was then that my fursona was truly born.

Well the hybridisation came about because I wanted a sence of uniqueness... I tended to mew quite abit and have the tendancies of a kitty like personality however when I finally Drew my fursona for the first time I drew a wolfesc character... thus the whole idea of the hybrid fursona came into play ^.^

Kiffy tends to be Kitty in fursonality but wolf in apperance.... am working at blending him to be hybrid in looks as well at the moment which should be rather coolies <3

as for the Leopard... I kinda left him behind as it wasn't my character... I pretty much used an already existing picture someone had drawn and went... yeah thats me... and I can change into what ever I want ^.^ I left behind the character when I decided to create my own (who's name started off a Lee Wolf... Originality for the win X3) which is Kiffert Lee Yifferson (aka Kiffy Lee) ^,^

Currently discovered a sub-fursona as well which is another hybrid... he is a Fenic-Bunny hehe

Did the idea of the wolf come just from that moment of you drawing your fursona? Was it a spiritual purge from the sub-conscience or was it something you had been thinking about beforehand that you managed to incorporate the first time you drew yourself. You say you were interested in hybridisation but was it necessarily going to be a wolf?

The blending in of two different life aspects is an interesting point you raise. To some furry is spiritual, to others behavioural and again others appearance so in that respect combining creatures seems a strong way to go.

What's a sub-fursona and how does that work? Is it another aspect of spirituality or is that more of an RP thing? In terms of your leopard, did you get strength from the picture and that aided you to develop your fursona in other directions? Why did you adapt the picture in the first place?

Sorry for all the questions :(

Hehe sokay Lupe <3

I think the idea of the wolf came from a mixture of random luck and spirituality... I pretty much just put the pencil to paper and let my hands do the workand the finished product was a wuffle... this I thought was strange as I thought I was more cat like than wolf, thats where the idea of hybridisation came into to play... a wolf kitty I though... I wasn't expecting it and I kinda liked it..

A sub-fursona could be like a secondary character of sorts... or a separate fursonality from the general fursona.. I guess its a slight bit of both really. Partially spirtial as being born in the year of the rabbit and really liking bunnies <3 and partially RP in the fact that I become immensely small and helpless as this character *meeps*

As for the leopard... it kinda made me feel like an art thief as I hadn't really thought about developing my own fursona at that time... it did give me the creative boost to actually create my own...

You raise some very interesting points. Having been someone who has never really RPed, at least in RPG form, I have not experienced the potential that that could release in my fursona. I express myself through fursuiting primarily but there are many different ways you can do this and perhaps I should start exploring myself in other ways too.

It seems that a lot of furs have sub-fursonas and I would be lying if it wasn't the case with me too. Canids are strong in me but because of my fursona history and feelings of empathy with other creatures, there are definitely different characteristics of mine catered for by other creatures. Having said that, being born in the year of the Dog, does help the wolf in me admittedly lols.

I agree about the stealing viewpoint and it's one thing I have often wondered about furs who name themselves after furry characters rather than generate their own names/fursonas. I guess it's a different form of empathy, and one no less valid, we all have our heroes and idols who we'd like to be, but I personally like creating my own characters, very much like yourself.
